
Keeping Things Warm (and Safe) with IP55 Infrared Heaters
When you’re putting a heater in a bathroom or out on a patio, you’ve got a bit of a battle on your hands. You need something that can handle steam and splashes without shorting out or rusting away. But there’s another thing people often forget: the light. Most infrared heaters put out a blinding white glare. It’s annoying for adults, but for a baby with developing eyes, it can actually be dangerous. We didn’t think that was okay. Saving your eyes To fix the glare, we use special quartz coatings and filters. Instead of that harsh, bright light, we shift the energy toward the medium and long-wave spectrum. The result? You get that cozy, skin-warming heat, but the light stays soft. No blinding flashes, no squinting. Just warmth. Dealing with the damp Then there’s the “IP55” part. In plain English, that just means we’ve built a fortress around the electronics. We use heavy-duty gaskets and sealed junction boxes to keep dust and water jets out. This is a big deal if you’re installing these near a shower. Without a proper seal, steam can settle on the heating element. When that cold condensation hits a hot tube, the glass can literally crack from the shock. Our seals stop that from happening. A quick heads-up on the heat Here’s the trade-off. When you filter out that bright light to protect your eyes, you lose a tiny bit of that immediate “punch” you get from a raw halogen tube. You might find you need a slightly higher wattage or need to mount the unit a bit lower to get that same “toasty” feeling. One last tip: if you’re installing a few of these in one room, keep an eye on your circuit load. And please,wire them into a dedicated GFCI circuit. It’s the only way to make sure everything trips safely if a seal ever fails. Better safe than sorry.
