
Keeping Your Outdoor Heaters Alive in the Rain and Mist
If you’ve ever put a heater outside, you know the two things that absolutely kill them: water leaking in and that annoying internal condensation. We built our IP65 units specifically to stop water from ever touching the electrical terminals or the heating element. What does IP65 actually mean for you? Basically, it means the unit is dust-tight and can take a blast of water from any direction without flinching. We use precision-molded gaskets and sealed cable entries to make sure splashes don’t short out your circuit. Here’s the thing: a lot of “water-resistant” heaters only work if the rain is falling straight down. But real weather isn’t like that. We designed ours to handle side-sprays and that heavy, soaking mist that usually ruins everything. The battle against fog Water doesn’t just come from the sky. When temperatures swing wildly, you get condensation inside the unit. To fix this, we added specific venting paths and a special anti-fog coating to the quartz glass. It keeps the heat transfer clear. Without it, fog builds up on the emitter, you lose that cozy warmth, and you end up with hot spots on the tube. That’s usually when the glass cracks. Our coating stops that from happening. A quick heads-up on installation There is a trade-off when you seal a chassis this tightly. Because it’s air-tight, the internal electronics run a bit hotter than they would in an open-frame heater. Just make sure you leave a little breathing room when you mount it. If you bolt it flush against an insulated wall with no gap for air to move, you’re risking the internal wiring wearing out way too fast. Give it some space. Built to actually last By keeping the moisture out and the fog away, we stop those contact points from oxidizing. You won’t see that typical “burn out” at the terminals that happens with cheaper outdoor lamps. Instead of replacing your heaters every few seasons, these should keep you warm for years. Just do yourself a favor and wire them into a properly rated GFCI circuit to keep everything safe.
